Our Staff
The Butte College Student Health center is staffed by three Nurse Practitioners, three Licensed Mental Health Specialists, and Physicians.
Nurse Practitioners are advanced practice Registered Nurses who go on with their education and receive 2-3 years of medical school type of training. They have also received a Masters degree in Nursing. They are able to diagnose, treat and prescribe medications, antibiotics, x-rays, lab tests and make referrals.
Our Mental Health Therapists all have at Masters degrees and licensure either as Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT). All have training and expertise in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use disorders, eating disorders, and other psychological needs.
Student Health Clinic Staff
Jordan grew up in Butte County and completed his undergraduate in Nursing at Chico State. He worked as a Flight Nurse for several years in Susanville and South Lake Tahoe before finishing his graduate work in Nursing and becoming a Nurse Practitioner at Graceland University in Independence, Missouri. Jordan enjoys spending time with his family, working on his farm, and spending time outdoors hiking, hunting, fishing, blacksmithing, and leather working. He also works as a Volunteer Firefighter/Engineer for Butte County Fire in Gridley.
Kimberly completed her undergraduate degree from Liberty University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, giving her over a decade of experience in her field. Wanting to further her education she completed her Master of Science in Nursing from Sonoma State University in 2013. She also holds additional certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Kimberly currently practices with Allied Health. She also is a faculty member of Butte College and holds an expertise in Nursing Education, Family Medicine, Urgent Care, Medical/Surgical, and Pulmonary disease. Kimberly attributes her professional success to her drive to help others and to inspire others to contribute back. She loves learning, and the variety nursing offers. When she is not working, she enjoys sports, including soccer, basketball, and volleyball, as well as traveling, attending festivals and movies, and spending time with family and friends.
Karen Johnson has worked as a Trauma Social Worker, a Domestic Violence Responder and in the field of Addiction Treatment. She has spent the last 3 + years working in Mental Health on the Crisis Response Team at Butte County Behavioral Health. Karen is excited to bring her experience to the Butte College Campus in the role of Mental Health Specialist. Karen lives in Chico, California, and enjoys all the outdoor activities it has to offer. She is the mother of 3 grown children and is aspiring to be the best grandparent EVER to her one, and only, grandchild, so far.
Hannah Horowitz has been with Butte College since 2018. She specializes in treating depression, anxiety, and trauma related care.
Roy Dyer, LMFT
Mr. Dyer started with Butte College in 2022. His caring, compassionate, and understanding demeanor creates an environment that is safe and comfortable. He has a background in trauma related care and substance use care.
